While vacationing on the small island of Zakynthos to the west of the Greek mainland, in September 2004, a bush fire broke out
on a hill pretty close to our hotel. Staying in the Galaxy hotel, directly on the beach of Laganas Bay, I could see the Canadair
CL-215's and 415's scooping up water, sometimes accompanied by a lone SkyCrane or Mil helicopter. I took a lot of pictures
during the two days these aircraft were active and a selection can be seen below. The whole thing did not spoil our vacation, it
just added something.... No lives were lost, no injuries either, just a lot of scarred wood remained afterwards. Aircraft
participating this first day were 1039, 2052 and 2053 and the Skycrane N179AC (??)
The second day saw action from Canadair's 1067 and 1070 as well as Mil-26T EW-232TF.
